I’ve heard that skydiving is dangerous? How safe is it?

Like any extreme sport, skydiving comes with its risks. However, as long as you choose a reputable and licensed skydiving company, it is unlikely that you will get hurt. There are very few skydiving accidents each year in the U.S. Your FAA licensed instructor will explain all the safety rules and regulations to you so you know what you’re doing.

We also make sure to check our parachutes for any defects regularly as per FAA mandates, so you can be confident in your safety.

Is there a minimum age to skydive?

Skydiving is only permitted for legal adults 18 years of age or older. You cannot skydive under the age of 18 even if you have a parent’s written consent.

What should I wear during a tandem skydive?

You don’t really need any special clothing for skydiving, so a t-shirt and jeans or shorts is fine. If you wear glasses or contacts that you prefer not to remove, ask your instructor for goggles you can use during your jump.

How do I become a licensed skydiver?

Becoming a licensed skydiver requires taking courses to make sure you know everything about the safety procedures and regulations you’ll need to take to make sure you’re as safe as possible. This course will include 25 jumps during which your instructor will assist you in falling safely. At the end of the course, your instructor will determine if you have met the requirements necessary for certification.

Is it frightening to skydive?

Most people get a bit nervous or scared before they skydive, which is natural. Even the most experienced divers out there can get butterflies. Since humans aren’t born with wings, fear in a skydiving situation is simply a survival instinct to keep us safe. But since you know you will be safe with an experienced skydiver with you, you don’t have to worry. The more you jump, the more you will get over your fear!

How long do the ground lessons before tandem skydiving take?

You must complete ground school lessons before you complete your first tandem skydive. These lessons will ensure you are safe in the air and are following all necessary rules and regulations. However, it will take less than an hour to complete ground school training. When tandem jumping, your instructor will be in charge of almost everything, so there’s not that much for you to worry about!

Do I have to sign anything before I skydive?

Yes. You will have to sign a waiver, which every skydiving company requires. The waiver simply states that the company is not responsible for certain conditions or anything that happens to you during a dive.

Do I have to schedule my jump?

Yes, we do require that you schedule a jump before you arrive. That way, you are guaranteed a spot. Otherwise, you might drive out to the jump location and realize that the whole day has already been booked.

What is the weight limit to skydive?

Weight limits depend on where you’re jumping and the type of jump you want to perform. Generally, the weight limit for a tandem dive is around 225 pounds. However, for AFF courses that involve jumping on your own, the weight limit might be lower. You can give our customer service representatives a call if you have any questions or concerns.

Can I jump on a cloudy day?

Yes. In fact, skydiving on a cloudy day can be an incredibly fun experience. Just imagine getting to fall through layers of clouds before your parachute is deployed!

What if I schedule my jump for a day in which the weather is bad?

Since weather conditions can affect skydiving safety, we make sure not to take anybody out in inclement weather. Therefore, if it is storming or abnormally windy on the day you have reserved, you can either wait to see if the weather changes or reschedule for a different day.

I’m afraid of heights. Should I still try to skydive?

A lot of new jumpers are afraid of heights, and some even use skydiving to overcome that fear. Even if they are scared at the beginning, once they jump, most people with a fear of heights feel exhilarated and can’t wait to go again.
