Boise is a Skydiver’s Best Friend

April through September are the best months for skydiving in Idaho since there’s little to no snow. Boise is the place to be if you want to see some cool stuff from the sky.

There’s a rumor going around that Idaho is mostly desert, but that’s simply not true. Boise has a wide array of mountains, river canyons, forests, and, admittedly, a little bit of desert. So, when you get done skydiving, you can go rock climbing, hiking, rafting, or almost anything else.

Boise is split between pure nature and full-on city, so everyone is happy. Have a great jump!

Don’t Get Lonely in the Sky. Jump in Tandem!

When Tandem Jumping, a certified instructor will be here to guide you through your entire jump. They will meet you at the drop zone, cover all the important safety information, and get you geared up and ready to go!

The instructor will check to make sure the Main Chute, Drogue Chute, Reserve Chute, and Automatic Activation Device (AAD) are all present and accounted for. Trust us, they have a vested interest. The Drogue Chute is there to allow two people to fall at the same speed as a single jumper. The Reserve Chute is there just in case, and the AAD will monitor altitude and make sure a chute is deployed in the rare instance that things don’t go as planned.

Safe and Cozy with the Gears!

After you are all safe and cozy in your gear, you will fly to over 10,000 feet in the sky and jump out of a plane with your instructor. Don’t worry, you will be connected to the instructor in four different places so you can devote your entire being to the free fall. Once the chute is pulled, feel free to relax and soak up the sky. Before you know it you’re about to land. Close your eyes for a second to bask in the glory of the fall.

What Exactly is a Drop Zone?

Drop zones are where skydivers make their epic landing. You will likely be thinking more about your time in the sky, but your friends and family will be spending a bit of time here. They need something to do while they wait for you to get your head out of the clouds!

Each drop zone is different, but we try our best to make our drop zones a comfortable spot to sit around. Some have places to buy something to eat or drink while others might have picnic tables where your friends and family can eat the snacks you brought along.

Relive Your Jump Whenever You Want!

Your friends are going to be able to get some nice pics as you are getting close to the drop zone. But if you want to truly remember your time in the sky, you might want to consider our videography options.

When you land, be sure to look closely at your friend’s faces. You can always tell who really wanted to be in the air with you. Be a pal and get them a gift certificate so you can jump together next time! For all you know, you both might become gleefully addicted to skydiving and find yourselves jumping your way to a license!

Solo Parachuting Academy in Boise, Idaho

Learn Your Favorite Subject at Skydiving Academy!

For those of you who want to safely jump where you want, when you want, Skydiving Academy is the place to be! An A-License will allow you to do that and more! You can even work your way towards becoming an instructor, or another type of professional skydiver.

You can do either Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) or Static Line (S/L) Progression training to work your way to the 25 jump minimum for your A-License.

Accelerated Free Fall (AFF)

Contrary to popular belief, AFF does not train you to fall at a faster speed. But you will get to free fall solo sooner than you would with other training programs.

The seven steps of AFF will prepare you to safely and efficiently get qualified for your A-License. Before you can fly completely solo, you will need to master altitude awareness, learn to position your body, fly with stability, and properly pull your chute.

After you start diving solo, you will learn turns, forward movement, and how to dock onto other divers. By the end of training, you will be able to jump like Superman out of the plane! This does not, however, mean you will be able to stop a speeding bullet.

Static Line Progression

Traditionally, students learned to solo jump through Static Line (S/L) Progression. In S/L jumps, your chute is connected to the plane by a ‘static line’ so it is automatically deployed when you jump out of the plane. It will take several practice jumps before you learn how to deploy your own chute.

When the magical moment arrives and your instructor deems you worthy of solo flight, you will deploy your chute ASAP when you jump. Then you will jump from higher altitudes and delay chute deployment a bit more each jump until you are flying as high as can be!

A Gift Certificate is Always a Good Choice

If you jump out of a plane, does that mean that your friends should too? Yes. The answer is always yes. And a gift certificate is the perfect way to get them in the sky!

You may as well bring your significant other with you as well. They will get bored waiting around on the ground. Over time they may get a little exasperated with you wanting to play your jump video over and over and over. It is better if you both have a video.

Speaking of videos, when you are registering for your wedding or anniversary gifts, keep in mind that you can use gift certificates for video packages, Tandem Jumps, or Accelerated Free Fall Level 1 Jumps. If all doesn’t go quite to plan, you can transfer gift certificates between locations or individuals. Keep in mind that there might be a small fee for location transfers.

There’s no easier gift to purchase. Just contact our customer service reps any day of the week. And what are the odds of somebody saying no to a good, old-fashioned free fall? Maybe you can even turn skydiving into an anniversary tradition! Happy Jumpiversary!

A Bit About Our Videography Options

Don’t kick yourself over not having photos from the sky. You can develop knee problems from kicking your derriere that hard.

Instead, why not plan in advance to add on a video package? You can choose from our GoPro option, where your instructor wears a camera, or you can go all the way with a Camera Flyer who jumps with you for the best shots of your entire jump. Our video pro starts off with committing your thoughts to film as you get ready to take the plunge. This option costs a little bit more since there is an extra jumper there to get the best shots of your jump from start to finish, but it’s so worth it! You’ll have a CD with your jump fully edited and set to music.

You’ll also get a CD if you choose the GoPro route as well, but you’ll likely not have any shots of your face. Since the instructor will be focused on keeping you safe, the camera won’t go on until right before the jump. So you’ll have a video that looks like you were the one behind the camera.

Either way, you will have an awesome video to do with what you will

How Do You Become a Camera Flyer?

You have to give credit where credit is due. Camera Flyers put a lot of practice in before they are ready to hold a camera in the sky. After getting their license, they have to go out and find the perfect camera that will get the perfect shot. To make that camera worth the money, they likely have to make over 50 jumps before they even get steady enough to take good shots.

You can see from some of the best skydiving videos out there that a good Camera Flyer has an artist’s eye. They cannot just take straight video of the jumper. People don’t want to watch a person flail and scream for twenty minutes. They want to see the scenery. They want to see the ground as you plummet. What was the weather like that day? Where was the sun?

Camera Flyers may make their job look easy, but it most definitely is not. Shake the hand of an artist when you pick up your video at the end of the day.
